Living Area & Office Decor Plans

We are slowly getting more organized over here and we're busy listening to our beautiful New House and what sort of decor will suit her and us.

We have figured out and set up a seating area near the fireplace with the couch facing both the fireplace and the TV.  We have a smallish one in this area - the bigger one(s) will be downstairs in our entertaining zone!

It currently looks like this from the couch:

Back at the couch:

From the bookcase (you can see the length of the room!

Right now we have one cane barrel chair near the fireplace with a small side table and one cane barrel chair near the window with another small side table.  Eventually we'd like to put two of the swivel chairs shown above (find them here) in those spots instead (then the cane chairs can go in our offices or downstairs, depending on where we need and want them most - they're beautiful and versatile!)  We picked out that fabric because we need some more pattern in this room rather than another solid color and we like how the blues and greys go with the other items we have.

It's a long room along the back of the house, facing the pond, and there's still more room behind the couch between that TV/fireplace area and the dining room.  We decided another seating area would be good there.

Right now it looks like this:

Chairs from Target many years ago, side table from Edloe Finch recently (find it here), pillows and blankets from everywhere.  Mirror is vintage from my parents!  It will be hung up somewhere, maybe not even in that area.

We would like to two more of the same swivel chairs here.
These chairs area great because they're comfortable, stylish, and they turn in any direction!  So the person in the chair can choose to face the person in the other chair, the TV, the fireplace, the kitchen, the beautiful view out the windows . . . there are lots of great options!

And we're considering this coffee table for that seating area.  Isn't she pretty?  We have sprinkles of gold all over, and this is earthy and rustic and fancy all at the same time.

Now on to my office.

First I started with a desk and a console.  I was picturing the console going on the wall under the window, but we'll have to see how it all looks when we get things together in the same room.

This is the console I chose.  Greg assembled it and my Mom and I stocked it up with office supplies!

My new desk (not yet assembled) is in a similar style.

In spite of the console, I don't have enough storage for all my stuff.

I have a LOT of toys and professional equipment, as well as books and office supplies I use in my work.  I have a teensy closet in my office, but I would like to keep all my work stuff around me rather than running up and down the stairs to and from the basement when I need things.  Therefore I've been searching for storage cabinets that will suit my needs.  I finally found some I like!  I like modern, but I also like a big of earthy texture, a bit of rustic.
So here's my choice!  I'm planning to probably buy two or three of these cabinets (depending on how many fit!) to put all along one wall in my office.  I would like the whole wall to be storage.  That would be a NICE amount of storage space - all OUT OF SIGHT!  Plus, it's beautiful.

Those are the plans as they stand right now.
We don't know how quickly things will come together because there's so much expense that we want to spread it out a bit.  But it gives us time to think and plan and shop!

Happy weekend!
