Back To Arizona

bluejay feather

We sadly had to pack up and leave the cabin to head back to Brooklyn Park
so we could fly out on Sunday.  While we were glad to be going home,
it's sad to leave, too.

Here's the drive through town (Sauk Centre) . . .

The drive to my parents' lovely home is very easy from the cabin,
and we barely needed the GPS.
We headed to Davanni's again for pizza.

Here's what I was wearing!
blouse: Eden & Oliva (Ross)
skirt: GAP
bag: ABage (Amazon)
camisole: JKY by Jockey (Target)

Brooklyn Park water tower:

And my parents' cute house!!!

That evening I watched HGTV while making food for the next day's travel.
Here are some of the snacks I took on the plane . . .
(I didn't take that bag of gluten-free flour!)

I made pancakes, too.

They were a GREAT choice for travel!

The next morning, my brother Mark,
picked us up and took us all the way to the airport.

Here's what I was wearing.

We MADE IT HOME!

And lots of exciting things have happened in the meantime, which I'll share soon.

Stranded, But Then Rescued (+ Sandhill Cranes)

I woke up in the morning to my brother Mark building with the marble run set.
He said he wanted one when he was a little boy (I didn't even know they existed way back then!)
and now he gets to play with his daughters'!

I like this photo even though it's blurry because it shows his FOCUS.

We were all interested to see how his version would be creative and different.

I then went out for a nice long ride on the JetSki (the yellow one was named "Butterfly" by Cora).
Almost all the way to the other end of the lake, the low fuel beep sounded and the light started flashing - EEK!  At the very least, I knew I could swim the JetSki to shore - maybe over the space of a few hours, all the way back to the cabin.  But I decided to turn around and pull over at the boat launch (half way back).

Some nice ladies were launching their boat to go fishing, and I was able to call Greg's phone and ask him to bring some fuel to the boat launch.
10-15 minutes later, he showed up to bravely rescue me!

We didn't initially know where to put the fuel, but eventually we figured it out!

Then I swam out and drove away!

Refuelled!

I made it back home, but I stopped in the middle of the lake first to have a little swim.

Everyone was relaxing when I got back.

I thought I might get teased for running out of gas, and I was slightly embarrassed, but
no one acted like it was a big deal.  (insert sigh of relief here.)

We finally figured out that the girls are really good about following directions now,
and we didn't have to hide all the junk food in the cabinet, so the Salty and Sweet table returned!!!

I got to go out and play with the girls a bit in the sand:

Greg took a picture through the door window design, and it ended up making a really cool image of Mark's truck!

Mark was super manly, and used his extra long chopped to
cut off an asymmetrical branch from the tree.
I don't think there's a whole lot he's afraid of.

It was big!

After dinner, Greg and I went out kayaking again.
This was our last kayaking experience for the summer, since we were headed back to the Cities (St. Paul/Minneapolis metro area) the next day to fly out the following day.

We enjoyed the peace and beauty.

Here are some sandhill cranes, the LOUDEST birds I've ever
heard with the WEIRDEST jangly honks.

Here they are walking elegantly along in the water . . .

And here's how they sound
(first you'll hear ducks and seagulls . . . then the wacky rattling honk will come and you'll know it's the cranes!)

Here is the osprey nest.  You can see two parent birds and I think some little heads
(though maybe that's just part of the nest).
The ospreys made funny little squealing noises sort of like the "eeeeeeeee!" noises that eagles make.

I can't get enough of that beautiful reflective water.

All the watercraft get tucked up at night.

And then we get tucked up, too!
Nighty-night!

Bonus: the wind in the trees before a thunderstorm . . .

Lots Of Water Fun

What a beautiful day!

Mark and my Dad spent a bunch of time trying to get the pontoon launch solid so the boat would be more even when it was sitting there.  Greg was nearby, helping out and offering thoughts as they popped up.

There was a lot of lake muck and sweat that got deposited on them!

I went out kayaking earlier in the day.
I paddled my little personal water conveyance around the islet.
It's not too far, but it's far enough to be a good workout.

The dragonflies are beautiful.

Jillian, Cora, and Mark drove out on the JetSkis to see me and mention that it was probably time for lunch.  I agreed!

After lunch, Cora & Esme NEEDED to put lots of bandages on their baby

and their rabbit.

They are truly genetically related to me - I also love tape!
Probably because my Dad was the adhesives guy at 3M for many years during my chilhood
and we got to use tape as a toy.

We also went out to a deeper part of the lake on the pontoon
to play on the Rubber Dockie.

It works like this!

It's extra cool and amazing.  It really works like that, even for grown-ups!

I love this little face in those cute pink sunglasses!

After we had completely exhausted ourselves, we went
back to the house to get dinner ready.
It was pasta night!

I made a big salad . . .

and some gluten-free brown-rice rotini with spinach and tomato sauce.

I also had a gluten-free roll (dipped in the sauce - yum-yum!)

Then while the girlies were getting ready for bed, Greg and I went out for more kayaking.

A family of ospreys live in the tower:

Good night, pelicans!

Greg got sunburned from standing in the sun helping with the dock,
but he recovered pretty quickly.

Look at that super handsome man!

After all that excitement, we lazed around in the evening and chatted.
This is one of my favorite times of the day at the cabin!

It's usually time for a snack, too!
(I'm eating crackers with hummus and grapes - mmmm!)

Everyone was tired, but we enjoyed each other's company greatly.

And then TO SLEEP!!!
