Spring Is Here!

Warmer weather has arrived!
This time of year leaves me confused because the sunshine
and blooming flowers and trees make me very happy
AND at the same time, I get sad that the HOT HOT HOT
weather is coming.

But right now, we're enjoying it!
The boys especially are desert cats; they like to be WARM!

They get extremely lonely when I'm not home enough, and the
past couple of weeks have been quite full.

Allistair followed me from one room to the next.

He even sat on me while I was curling my hair!

Greg and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary a couple of weeks ago - hooray!
We went to the Alamo Drafthouse with my parents to see "Captain Marvel".
We've been trying to keep up with all the Marvel movies.
I didn't think I would like them, but they're made for mass appeal, and
they have mass appeal and I like them after all.

Another fun thing that happened this spring was a refresh of the surfaces in
our house.  My Mom is the best home stylist I know,
and she came over and helped me (okay, she DID IT ALL) restyle
the kitchen cabinets, the entertainment center, the bookshelves, and the dining
room table.

The AMAZING thing is that we didn't buy a single thing to accomplish
this transformation!  I had everything already.  My Mom just moved things around
and now the house is fresh for Spring!
I'm always pleased with how well disparate things fit together;
I picked all these items because I love them, and they work even
though everything has been chosen over many years.
That's my favorite kind of decor.

In progress . . .

I gathered together a bunch of possibilities from all over the house.

These are two special sets of drinks glasses.
The amber glass set was my parents'.  They bought the pieces
in Mexico for $.50 a piece, if I recall correctly.  The cut glass set is from
Greg's Grandma, and I believe it was made in 1925 or something.
They are both completely gorgeous and they look even better mixed together!
That was, of course, my Mom's idea.
Although I will admit that I wanted these two sets in the kitchen, since they
are beverage related.

We also have this little drinks set on a different cabinet.

Not a great view, and it looks much MUCH better in person, but
here is the final product above the stove (which is visible from the great room,
so it's the most important)!

My Mom loves trays, and I happened to have FOUR that I wasn't using.
The first one we used is the round gold one on the left (Target).

We also simplified what was on the bookshelf.
The second tray is the blue chevron-patterned one behind the globe (Ross).
It brings out the blue colors from the bookshelf very nicely!

And also what was on the entertainment center.

We put this pretty blue floral tray (#3, Ikea) on the coffee table only to discover
how well it pulls out the blue river on the table.

My gold tray (Amazon) went on the buffet (back by the lamp).

Here's the Spring mix dining room table arrangement.

I love my cute little house, filled with meaningful things
from people I love, arranged by someone I love!

Hope your weekend is a great one!
Lots has been happening around here, so tune in again soon
for the updates.

P.S.  Greg had jury duty and was called back for a second pass through
on a murder trial, but ultimately he wasn't chosen. It's nice because
he would've missed the vacation we have planned to a house on the ocean
in California for my parents' 50th anniversary in July.
Here he is in the parking structure downtown.

A Shopping Adventure With My Sweet Mom + A Fancy Wedding

What a fun day!  I had a little list . . .

straw bag
nude slip
healthy vegan nail polish
running pants
exercise bra

Here is my outfit from the day.
jacket: ABS (TJ Maxx)
blouse: A New Day (Target)
camisole: JKY by Jockey (Target)
pants: Alfani (Macy's)
shoes & socks: Target

I tried the outfit on with other options on top: a black denim jacket
and a black flared-sleeve sweater.

This one looked best!
I love this denim jacket.

Here's the back
and the cute little heart print!

Here's a close-up of my new white sapphire ring.
Doesn't it look pretty with my other ring?

As I was getting ready, I leaned over to put the blow dryer back in the
cabinet, and Allistair jumped up on my back.

He loves his Momma!

We started out at TJ Maxx, then went to Ross,
Macy's, and Target.

It was a big day and I did well energy-wise.

Can you see us?

When I got home, I found this:

FOUR ANIMALS had been gathered together.
Do they do this to comfort themselves because Momma isn't there?
Do they do it to reward me for coming home?

Allistair was very happy I came home.

Here's the nail polish I found.

It turns out that this color was too brown for me,
so I exchanged it for a brighter pink color.

There's been a lot of cat cuteness lately.
I've had a COLD for over a week and it's been getting me down.
These cats, though, have been filling me up with lots of loves!

On Sunday, we went to church as normal.
Here's what I wore:

jacket: Maison Jules (Macy's)
sweater: Maison Jules (Ebay)
skirt: Rekucci (Amazon)
shoes, tights: Target

After a busy morning in the classroom at church
(in case you didn't know, I run the special needs program at my church
and I'm currently in the classroom usually from 9:45 am until about 1 PM.
I have a wonderful team of volunteers and we're all tired out by the time the kids leave!

On Sunday, I came home and rested, then changed into a brand-new outfit
to attend a fancy wedding (of one of Greg's co-workers).
dress: Twinklady (Amazon) - I have it in three colors now!

I tried lots of different jackets.

Nope.

No.

Better, but no.

YES!
Who would've guessed that two different colors of pink
would look so great together?

Evenings are still chilly, and the wedding was outside.
I added a gray scarf and my new straw bag.

I also added gold ballet flats.

The weather was beautiful
and I was excited to be outside in pretty circumstances.

Royal Palms Resort in Scottsdale.

We got teensy little margaritas!
I've surprisingly never had a margarita before, and I liked it!
I brought home two little bottles and I've already used one
 as a bud vase.

There was even food I could eat!
This is grilled vegetable Napoleon
with forbidden rice.
It was tasty!

It was a lovely evening.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
