Ankle Healing + Fall!

There has been some healing as the days have gone by.
It's very slow, but I'm starting to have more than one good day in a row.

blouse: A New Day (Target)
sunglasses: DKNY (prescription, from eye doctor)
camisole: JKY by Jockey (Target)
skirt: Rekucci (Amazon)
bag: Betsey Johnson (Amazon)
hair bow: J Crew
shoes: Sketchers (Amazon)

I have done a bit of shopping for fall/winter.
I barely did any shopping last month due to surgery,
but this month I've almost made up for it
even though I don't have quite enough stamina to do it in person.

Here is a cute top from A New Day at Target.

It has cute details like a boatneck top,
buttons on the sleeves . . .

and buttons all the way down the back!
It's adorable.
I got a large because I like my t-shirts and tops oversized.

I wore it on Sunday this way:
skirt: Rekucci (Amazon)
shoe; Sketchers (Amazon)

The cats take good care of me.
top: Maison Jules (Macy's)
skirt: Rekucci (Amazon)

While I was in California, I bought this sweater:
Women's "Happy" Pullover Sweater

I was definitely feeling happy at the time!
I love the lightweight texture, the design, and the price ($14.96!)

My sweaters are an area that needs help to be well-prepared for cooler weather.
I have a lot of sweaters, but I haven't worn most of them in a few years.
While I was browsing online,
I decided to see if there were other versions of the happy sweater-
and there were!

There was a rainbow heart:

There was one with hello and some colorful stripes:

Ther was one that said "Ciao":

They are all sold out now, but I am very happy I snapped them up!

I also found this sweater by EV1 (WalMart).
It's a line by Ellen DeGeneres and it's great!

This sweater has an adorable pastel colored rainbow heart
on the front and a red start
 on the bottom back hem.
It's extra cute!

I also tried these distressed jeans, but they sit a little too high
and the waistband was too stiff and tight for me.
I decided these aren't any better than the jeans I already have,
so I returned them.  The sweater, though, I adore, and kept.

I love this flowy tiered long-sleeved scoop necked dress!
The scoop is pretty low but I like it.
Enough, in fact, to buy two other colors (gray and olive)!
dress: Wild Fable (Target)

Here are a few outfits I've worn lately that aren't new:
blouse: clearance rack at TJ Maxx
skirt: Rekucci (Amazon)
sandal: Sketchers (Amazon)

During the transition from scooter to walking on the boot:
blouse: A New Day (Target)
skirt: Rekucci (Amazon)
sandal: Sketchers (Amazon)

First day of Physical Therapy!
t-shirt: Bold Banana (Amazon)
shorts: Ross
sandal: Sketchers (Amazon)
hair bow: J Crew Factory

t-shirt: Plant Power Fast Food
hair bow: J Crew Factory
skirt: Rekucci (Amazon)
sock & slide: Target

There was a little hang-up in recovery from surgery.
One of the puncture holes (the medial one, the one on the inner side of my ankle)
has been more swollen than the other one every since the surgery.  It had a lump under the surface.
About a week ago, it started to leak.  Then all of a sudden on Tuesday, it started to actually bleed when I took the wrap off.  One time I thought I saw something stiff poking out of the hole.
I made an appointment with the PA, who stuck in the forceps and dug around (um . . . ow).
He didn't find anything, but lots of blood drained out.

This morning after my shower, I saw a little clear thread-looking thing sticking out,
so I pulled on it gently with a sterilized tweezers.  A little length came out.
I put it onto my finger, where it pretty much dissolved so I couldn't take a picture of it.

I'm assuming there was a small piece of undissolved suture left in there.
The PA said he thought it was a seroma, which is a pocket of fluids left in the body after surgery.
It could be that, too.

This is how the hole looks now.

Here's the other side.  Looks good, huh?

As I have transitioned from the scooter to just the boot,
I have been still keeping off my feet most of the time because my ankle gets achy.

I actually used a cart at Target!
I used the crutches to get into the store,
and then put the crutches in that little tube near the back base.

There I am!

I've been experimenting with exercises of various kinds.
Here Juvy and I are doing seated yoga.
She was playing with my hair bow.

Allistair helped me do some Ballet Beautiful (seated and lying down muscle building exercises):

He also helped me with yoga:

We were happy to discover that I could order groceries online at Sprout's
and pick them up FREE (after the free times, it only costs $1.99!)
I've done it twice, since getting groceries is pretty difficult so far.

Here is some relaxation:

Even Claude (kinda grumpy overall) has been taking care of me.

Look at that little paw on my leg.

Allistair is always snuggly.

Stephen is pretty cute, too, of course!

Sometimes the boys even sort of cuddle:

Allistair likes boxes, and he likes them three sizes too small.

But a towel on the wall will do, too, as a good place for a nap!

Who could resist this face?!

And these beautiful fluffy paws:

And now I'm walking!
(with the boot)

The weather is finally starting to cool down.
It's been very humid, though, so we haven't been enjoying open windows all that much.
This morning it was 69 degrees F and 88% humidity!

We have gotten a bit of rain, but not a lot.
They predicted a lot of rain over a good number of days, but
it did not materialize.

I got the itch to plant things.
I planted succulent babies in containers I've had sitting around
for this purpose.  These little sweeties have grown off our very own plants
in the backyard!  I'm planning to give them as gifts,
but I'm not finished enjoying them yet!

This was part of a measuring cup set.

This one I found at a thrift store along with a matching teapot,
which I use as a watering can.  I love the delicate pattern.

The babies grow off these lumpy succulents like this.
I just pop them off and plant them in soil with some water and some
drainage.  They just go to town!

Our trees are leafy and have been very enjoyable to watch during the recovery period.

This weird cactus is a gift from Cindy.
It used to have weird fringes on the top and little nubs, but
now it definitely has spikes!

I have also learned how to crochet a scarf!
I have crocheted quite a bit in the past, but pretty much only beanies.

This time I learned a new pattern AND had a great time doing it!
It felt restful and productive at the same time, which was just what I needed.

I started out with pink.

We spent a lot of rest time watching Doctor Who (the old ones!)
over last weekend and I worked on my scarf.

And then it was finished!

I think I'll make the next one wider.

Another great thing lately is that my parents gave my a subscriptio
to National Geographic!
I got three of them at once!
I'm excited to read them.

I got kind of productive today
and finally hung our straw hats on the wall in the master bedroom.

Don't they look great?
Also, they bring back very happy memories.

Have a wonderful weekend!
