As you know, Greg and I had our 25th anniversary in March. My parents were thoughtful enough to bring us this beautiful cake stand, and even better, it's a family heirloom. My maternal grandparents got it on their 25th anniversary when my Grandpa was on staff at a church. It's very special to be the caretaker of something so pretty and meaningful.
My parents like to invest in something for our home to celebrate our anniversary (a tradition I very much enjoy!) Greg and I have never had matching nightstands, and his recently started to actually fall apart, so I was looking for 2 new ones. My Mom and I headed out a couples of weeks ago to see if we could find some and WE DID! These are more perfect than I ever expected to find! I love the rattan insets, and I wanted white for sure to contribute to the fresh and airy feeling of our bedroom.
My parents were generous enough to buy us one of them, and we bought the other.
We also went to HomeGoods to look for wall decor for my Mom's bedroom.
Look how cute my Mom is!
The spiky starbursts are for my Mom's bedroom wall (in the condo here in Arizona), and the starburst mirror is for me! It's in the main bedroom bathroom.
The cats investigated, but didn't cause any trouble with the rattan.
When we got home, I first needed to move the old nightstand. I was going to sell it, but I still really like it, and if we move, I would like to use it in our guest room. Right now we have a window where a nightstand would be, so we have a low bench there instead of a nightstand. That might not be the case forever, though, so I wanted to stash this nightstand somewhere just in case. I found the perfect spot!
It's in a little corner of the bedroom where I have a necklace hanger and some hats.
I thought up a brilliant idea when I was rooting around for ways to store my earrings. I had some silicone trays in the kitchen for making little chocolates, but I had never used them that way, so I decided they would make great storage for individual pairs of earrings!
Then, of course, I reorganized the bedroom with the new nightstands in place! They are perfect!
Greg's side:
Doesn't the bedroom look wonderful! I feel like I live in a fancy yet down-to-earth hotel.
I even rearranged the top of the dresser to kind of hide some of the TV wires. That old DVD player will probably depart to Greg's office at some point because we don't use it in here.
We also found these robin's-egg-blue utensils, which I like very much! They are a great weight and they're extra neat-looking!
Last Thursday, Cindy came with me to dinner at my parents' house! She brought a delicious lentil shepherd's pie and I took over potato corn chowder and carrot cake muffins. It was a tasty meal!
What precious women!
Another good thing happened last week - Greg and I got our first vaccines!
It was very well-organized. Everyone was helpful and cheerful and encouraging. I was nervous, but they made me feel calmer and at-ease.
Hooray! Second dose in 3 weeks.
My Mom and I had one last winter shopping trip for this year at Macy's
Here's what I was wearing:
blouse: ? from Beall's
skirt: Rekucci (Amazon)
bag: Target
sandals: Sketchers (Amazon)
mask: Etsy
Not the most flattering mirror, but we were having fun! We found some wonderful straight-leg jeans for my Mom. We could only find one pair, but after much searching and a prayer, we found a second pair!
Then it was Easter!
We watched the service online on our big TV in our fancy bedroom with the windows wide open. It was lovely to hear the birds; they are extremely vocal this time of year! The cats loooove church at home.
My parents came over for dinner.
The meal didn't turn out exactly as I had planned, but it was still nice to be TOGETHER.
A couple of weeks ago, my Dad mentioned that he could fix our wobbly chairs, so I brought him one to check out.
He came over last week to fix them (with my help!), though there were a couple that needed a tune up on Sunday. Thank you, Dad!
After a bunch of cooking and busyness over the weekend, and a busy few weeks in general, so far this week I've been quieter. There's been a lot of cat snuggling, reading, and TV! Also some napping.
They have snuggled Daddy a lot, too.
One of the mornings I ran last week, I saw these crepescular rays! They were magnificent.
The sunrise started out like this:
I could see the moon, though, at the same time.
Here's my favorite spot after a busy day!
In the mornings, Claude has been playing crazy on our bed with toys and hair bandies. It's very cute, and it's nice that she has so much energy even though she's elderly!
Here is my outfit today with my new pendant:
And here is one of my favorite outfits from the past couple of weeks:
top: Charter Club (Macy's)
jeans: JAG (Beall's)
sandals: Sketcher's
bag: Target
BONUS:
I lost an earring recently, but after one day, I found it in the dishwasher filter! Very weird, but I'm thankful to have found it!
