Spring has been lovely so far!
I have run in the rain.
I have already harvested some rhubarb and made a rhubarb apple cobbler!
The cats have been snuggly.
I love how I can see GREEN from every window!
Right now everything is lush and happy because we had 5" of rain over 3 days last week. It's another rainy day today.
Variegated lilacs along my running route:
More lilacs:
Bridal veil spirea:
Our purple irises!
Paige came over and we made pizza!
I got to go to Cora's and Esme's end-of-year school festival.
Everyone is watching the outdoor happenings!
We had a mouse difficulty this spring for the first time we've lived in this house.
We found evidence . . . and Ivy and Nora showed us the problem. Greg got some electric zappers and the second night they were placed in strategic places around the house, one mouse was zapped. I'm sad that a beautiful creation has passed on, but happy that it's not eating our wires or leaving evidence in my kitchen towel drawer!

Thrifting has been good lately.
Probably the best find was these rattan and wooden stools!
They are probably from the 1970s and similar ones are being sold for lots of money online. I paid $14.99 per stool!
They fit in the car!
I found this beautiful wooden coffee table at Goodwill. It was originally $12.99, I think, but while I was browsing the store, they announced over the loudspeaker that all furniture customers could carry out by hand was 75% off!
It looks great in the basement!
I also found this great light blue and pink Minnesota sweatshirt:
This striped fluffy sweater:
An attached blouse/sweater combo:
Brand new with tags!
Again, brand new with tags! And cotton, so nice and cool for summer.
This sequined one might be too itchy, but I'm going to give it a try!
I found some great glass food storage containers:
And a super cute stained glass turtle lamp!
This gourd bubble lamp was a good find, too!
My apple tree has blossomed for the first time!
I will probably get some apples this year!
My parents came over to help me begin turning the rock area to the north of our house into a flower garden!
We planted sedum:
Candy striped creeping phlox (this isn't looking so great right now; we'll have to see if it survives):
Columbine (also looking iffy but blooming more!)
Pincushion:
Daisies:
Veronica!
Herbaceous salvia:
Two kinds of blueberry bushes!
Our crabapple tree bloomed, too, and it was GORGEOUS:
I have some pretty pots, so I planted some hot peppers for Greg and some annual salvias.
My Mom and I bought the plants and had pizza for lunch in the middle of our shopping adventure!
Here are the plants I bought at Fair's Nursery!
I also got the good news that my eyes have stabilized after my diagnosis of Fuch's Corneal Dystrophy and Basement Level Epithelial Dystrophy and a new prescription could get my vision close to 20/20 in both eyes! I ordered new glasses and sunglasses. My brain is having trouble adjusting to the new prescription because it's significantly different in both the strength and the prism. Computer work is the hardest so far.
I'm also getting used to running in warmer temperatures. It's fun to see the plants growing from run to run.
I accidentally ran over the mower cord for the first time - oops!
Greg has done it once so at least he didn't make fun of me!
Before the apple tree blooms came out, I sprayed the tree with neem oil to prevent pests. We'll see if it helps the apples to be less full of bugs!
The babies like it when we can open the windows, especially the basement sliding glass door!
There's a couple of minute time span each evening at certain times of year where the tip tops of the trees turn bright orangey pink at sunset!
My sweet Mom and I had a mending day and now I have some "new" (fixed!) things to wear!
My brother's family bought some land in Lino Lakes about 15 minutes from our house.
We went over to check it out!
There's a lot of nice marshland in the back!
Cora and Esme and I played at the playground across the street.
We found some really big pinecones.
Cora was very very happy at all the extra room to run around!
These little pods were all over; they come from a tree.
Esme thought the house was a bit stinky.
This appears to be a chestnut tree bud (after browsing photos online for a while!)
We've had lovely clouds and rain and wind and freshness.
Greg assembled a great bench/coat rack that we got from Mark and Jillian!
We got to go to Cora's and Esme's piano recital!
And we had my parents over on Easter Sunday for pizza.
We also had a full family Easter celebration the Friday before Easter.
My sweet Mom brought these beautiful ceramic pieces home from Arizona for me and I love them! I wanted to see them every day, so they are on the top shelf in our living room bookshelf.
On another shopping day with my Mom, we looked for a clock, because the large clock in our living room had stopped working.
And we found it!
Again, the clouds were beautiful!
Greg and I plan to hang the clock along with these vintage metal and wooden birds.
I've gotten some new drawings from kids at church lately, too!

We also had dinner with our friend (and Greg's roommate) from college, Rich, and his wife Linda.
It was delightful!
And now it's already almost June!
See you soon!
