NZ Day 1: MUCH Flying!

Kia ora!

This is the first post in my upcoming travel series!

Here's the outfit I wore:
blouse: Calvin Klein from Ross
pants: SoHo from Ross
socks: crazy compression socks that left red marks on my calves from being too squeezy
shoes: Target
bag: Betsey Johnson

We took off from Phoenix around 4 pm for San Fransisco:

First the hills turned green . . .

And then we started seeing water!

Can you see me in that little screen?

Flying into San Francisco was a little scary because there was another airplane right off to the right side of our plane and it kept getting closer . . .

Turns out there are two runways right next to each other!

We made it!

Pretty bay:

I liked the SF airport.
These hanging lights were shiny and smooth:

Can you see our reflection?
I'm the only one wearing pink!

This airport has a YOGA ROOM!

And there was a wifi access point called "hide yo kids, hide your wifi,"
which made us laugh and laugh due to this news clip from years back with this very expressive and dramatic young man, set to music (music starts around 1:50).

We found some food there, too;
they had quite a few gluten-free things that were plant-based
(no animal products).
Greg had a chicken, rice, bean burrito and I had fruit
with cashew butter (brought along by me):

The airport also had pretty art:

Our flight to New Zealand took off around 9:30 PM.

Their uniforms had a beautiful ornate and colorful traditional Maori pattern:

There was a screen in the back of the seat in front of us and we got headphones,
blanket, and pillow for sleeping.

The meals weren't bad, either, or so says Greg.
I couldn't figure out how to request specialty meals, so I ate what I had brought with me.

After a couple of hours, we went to sleep . . . sort of.
It was cramped and uncomfortable and we woke up every few minutes to shift around and try to get comfortable, but it was better than no sleep at all, and it was enough to prepare us a little for the day ahead in Auckland!
