Here's a quick post just to update you . . .
my ankle isn't healing the way it should if the injury were what it was thought to be.
My Physical Therapist told me that I should be completely healed by now, and I'm "nowhere close". He said he suspected something else was going on and referred me to a foot and ankle specialist.
I saw the specialist today (actually, I saw his PA, who was really good!)
He thinks I injured my peroneal tendon.
We'll be scheduling an MRI to find out what is going on in there.
Surgery might be on the table, since conservative treatments haven't done the trick yet.
The good news is that no treatment needs to take place urgently, so I can take my vacation and enjoy it. I won't probably do more damage, so I can do what I want to do, wearing the lace-up brace to help my ankle hurt less. Hooray!
I think it's good news because now I know I'm not imagining things, I know we followed established protocol, my vacation can go on with minimal interruption from my injury, and there are ways that I can get back to being full-function Christie again in the future!
I'm very thankful for medical care when I need it.
