Jen came to visit!
The first day, we decided to do some thrifting in Stillwater. It was a lovely warm day (but not too warm!) The boats were cheerful and there was a fresh breeze.
I saw this desk and decided that the modern one I bought for my office isn't what I want long-term.
I would prefer something like this:
I wore my favorite new mustard colored sweater.
We saw these strange stumps and I recognized them from a show I've seen, which is filmed in Stillwater ("The Art Of Vintage" on Discovery+). These actual stools were on the show!
I saw these nativity pieces and recognize them as being the same pieces as from my parents' nativity set! They are about 3/4 the size of my parents' version, though.
We had a nice lunch at Chipotle.
Then we visited Goodwill and then we headed back to Stillwater's main street area for more browsing.
I saw these gorgeous Amish barn quilts (wooden artworks that typically are attached to the outside of a barn in the peak of the roof).
The man in the store said that a nice Amish gentleman comes into town every once in a while from Wisconsin and brings some more of these with him that he made.
If I had unlimited funds, I might have bought this skinny dresser. I would like some sort of furniture piece in the main bedroom between the closet door and the bathroom door. It will have a TV on it perhaps. I want something with a nice wood grain, something neither as wide as a traditional dresser nor as skinny as a lingerie chest. Something about 5 and a half feet tall.
When we got home, I made some spring rolls and an apple cobbler with the remaining apples from the ones we picked at the cabin. I didn't have any cinnamon, which would have made it better, but it turned out pretty great! Look how pretty it is!
Jen decided that thrifting was the best type of vacation, so we went to Hopkins and enjoyed the main street there, which had 4 different vintage shops. It was delightful.
This little man's manhood was protected by a little piece of paper.
I used to have the gold footed geometric glasses on the right of this teapot! I kind of wish I had bought the teapot and matching cups, but I didn't.
These are the coolest folding chairs I've ever seen!
I definitely wish I had purchased these amazing footed mugs!
Here are my purchases from my trips with Jen:
* a cute wooden canoe:
currently sitting here in the library, being sweet.
* a weather center, including barometer, thermometer, and pressure sensor!
I'm planning on putting it here next to the front door.
* Jen bought me this little turquoise bowl as a sweet hostess gift
What a beautiful color!
I found this amazing bend wood chair at Goodwill for $4.99! I love these little chairs, and have a few of them scattered throughout our home. I like the light colored wood of this one, and the wicker seat and back.
I also found a lot of baskets! I haven't yet put all of them into use, but I certainly will! We have a lot of need for storage "drawers," and baskets are prettier than cardboard boxes (though those work well, too!)
I found some nice white ones, too.
And guess what? I bought 2 Amish barn quilts! I was planning to hang them on the tall wall in the entryway, but I'm not sure now that that's the best place. I'm still pondering where all our cool wall art will go in our beautiful home.
Thank you for visiting, friend Jen!
