Autumn Happenings

Finally I feel like I'm catching up on the many fun things that have happened around here this summer and fall!  There were so many that my blogging suffered because I didn't have time (or desire) to blog them all as they happened, but I also don't want to forget them or FAIL to document them!  This blog is a meaningful record of my life over the past 12 years and I like reliving experiences by looking at the blog entries.

Greg and I had the chance to spend time individually with Cora and Esme one weekend.  They were not available at the same time, so we hung out with them separately.

We took Cora thrifting . . .

And to Target!

Then we went back to our house and made spring rolls.

While thrifting, I found this beautiful fall painting!

It even has little ghosties and pumpkins, which look as if they were possibly added by a child.

I also found this beautiful wreath that's on our front door.  It is made of very thin wood that's rolled into flowers and leaves.

Then I grabbed Esme and we went to a bunch of thrift shops.
She wanted to go to downtown Anoka, where she had seen a bunch of secondhand shops when she was there for Cora's sporting events.

It was an incredibly hot date and we were very sweaty.

Then we went to Goodwill, where Esme found some festive things!

I had my very first crown not long after that.  I was SCARED because previous dentists have failed to get me fully numb, especially on my lower jaw, but our new dentist is great and used many different angles and medications to help.  And now my tooth is all fixed!

The babies are as cute as ever!

And then it was time for our fall clean-up weekend at the cabin!
I picked up all the fruits and veggies on the way into town:

There's the lovely lake and my Dad enjoying it!

As the sun set the first night, we went out kayaking.

Cora told me that these seashells could be used as fingernails!
Only for a witch or zombie . . .

The next day, Cora worked on starting a fire to burn up some brush.

And it was apple harvest day!
My Dad had already brought me lots and lots of apples that were peeled and diced and in my freezers, but there were MORE!  This is a very wonderfully prolific tree!

Some of the apples were absolutely perfect and beautiful.

Some were filled with beetles or wasps.

There was a lot of squealing when the girls picked the wrong kind of apple and discovered unwanted guests!

I told my Dad he looked dapper in his sun hat and Cora said, "I want to be dapper!"

Greg removed some encroaching cat tails.

Grandpa supervised and kept us all safe.

We decided some rhubarb would be nice in our apple cobbler.

We made apple cobbler!!!

And baked apples!

And the girls decided they wanted to try air frying apple peels (which turned out kind of good, but they need a different style of drying/baking).

Here we are!

It was a lovely evening for a fire.  Mark used a poison spray and it worked great.  None of us died.

Esme danced!

And then everyone else danced a bit, too!

There were cuddles:

Even I got some!

The next morning there were more smoothies!

And then we did some art!

My Dad wanted to explain how to shut down things for winter, so we all (not Jillian or my Mom) went in the crawl space.  I have not explored much down there, so it was very interesting!
The access hole is in the closet of the bedroom Greg and I use while we're there!

Then it was time to head home!

We got hugged!!!!!

I love our family!
Thanks for being here today.
