My Mom

Happy Mother's Day to all of you women out there who have
loved
nurtured
protected
invested
guided
offered advice
prayed
been patient.

You make a difference!

Whether you invest in

kids - or adults.
your biological relatives - or not.

Here are some thing my wonderful Mom has taught me.

1.  It's good to be silly sometimes.

2.  Stay healthy and slim, but don't limit food too much.
Sometimes a woman just needs a snack!

3. Keep learning how to do new things!

4.  No make-up is prettier than too much make-up.

5.  Keep those you care about close and protect them.

6.  Vanity is no good, but making a little effort is a good thing.
Even if the pigtails are only one inch long.

Mom, even when I am frustrated, irritable, cranky, grumpy,
and not as appreciative as I should be,

you have shown me what LOVE is.

You have been patient
thoughtful
generous
encouraging
hopeful.

You helped me keep going when I thought I couldn't.
You taught me that I am significant.
You remind me constantly that I am exactly what God made me to be - and that's a good thing.

"When someone loves you, it's like having a blanket all round your heart."
(from "Bridget Jones's Diary")

Even if I think no one loves me, I always know my Mom does.  (My whole family does!)
Things seem a little less bad on those days because I have that blanket round my heart,
knowing that my Mommy always loves me.

Mom, I love you.

Thanks also to the other women in my life who have loved me especially much.
You have added extra layers to the padding around my heart!
I love you!

My Auntie Cindy, for example

A special thank you to
 my Mom-in-Law, Linda
and my other Mom-In-Law, Karen.
You have contributed to making my wonderful husband the man he is, and I appreciate and love you.

And in case you were wondering how my feet are lately, I have purchased some comfy flats for summer!
(I got a super smoking deal at a one-day Macy's sale.  65% of the regular prices of these shoes!)

Red Borns

And look at the inside!  Beautiful!

And black sparkly Aerosoles!

Disco ball toes!

And a cat in a box!

Health update: Colonoscopy scheduled for Tuesday, so tomorrow will be no food and too much familiarity with the bathroom for my taste.  I am a little nervous because I know my insides are messy and I don't want the doctor to damage anything during the procedure.  I would appreciate prayers.

I also have been VERY fatigued.  I don't know why, and I really don't like it, but it seems to be reality for me right now.  I am working to realize that I feel worse when I do too much, but it's really hard to keep resting even though it isn't going to make me all better.  If you are a praying person, please pray that my mind, mood, and body will be strong instead of as fragile as they have been.  Thank you.

Enjoy a relaxing Sunday.

P.S.  Check back on Father's Day for a tribute to my wonderful Dad!

  1. What a wonderful tribute to your mom. Love the pictures especially the attitude one of you. Really like the quote of a blanket all around your heart...really descriptive and true. It was especially nice that you thought of me. We are all blessed with GREAT women in our lives. That's what it's all about: relationships and sharing the love that was given so freely by our Lord. I got some new blue shoes I'll send you a pic through email. This was such an awesome tribute to your mom I'm really looking forward to your dad's. Praying for you...all parts...
